
In 2018 US-based Wasp Barcode Technologies Inc. published an internal marketing study that looked at how companies in North America with between 11 and 100 employees staffed their internal accounting functions, among other things relating to internal and external accounting resources. For a small CPA firm, the study provided some valuable insights.
Interestingly the company ignored businesses with fewer than 11 employees.
This is interesting because they made a determination that these smaller businesses would not be a viable market for their technology. The key takeaway for us at least is that businesses have different needs and resources that seem to align very closely with their size.
