“Hello Rob,

It was a pleasure to meet you a few weeks ago. I am almost done reading your book and learning about the tax implications. I want to thank you for giving me such a great knowledge base.

much needed book for entrepreneurs and early stage companies, Aug 12 2013

This is a much needed book for anyone looking at starting a company and how to evaluate it. It is also an excellent book for investors and bankers on how to evaluate early stage pre-revenue companies as these companies do not fit conventional banking or investment formulas. Some turn into Google, eBay, Facebook and other well known successful companies with huge multipliers. Others grow to many millions instead of billions and are worthy investments. They all began from similar roots and did not conform with conventional evaluation methods.

Again a must read.

This astonishing little book is a comprehensive look at many of the issues around investing in start-ups – from the perspectives of entrepreneurs as well as investors. It discusses the business and regulatory environment including insights into public accounting from the perspective of someone with 3 decades of experience in the industry. It looks at the new crowdfunding phenomenon and speculates on whether securities regulators will be able to meet the challenge of developing functional regulations – without emasculating the crowdfunding concept in the process.
The book also looks at valuations of early stage companies from the point of view of angel investors. It analyses the results of recent studies and indicates how investors may be able to increase their ROI. Finally it looks at taxation and considers how that impacts North American investors on both sides of the Canada-US border.
