While it may not be appropriate to prepare a business plan too early, if your business is successful, you may wish to invest in a plan at some point. This is something that is best done internally. Outsourcing the writing of a plan will likely mean that you haven’t internalized the plan. In short, it won’t be your plan if you don’t write – or at least review it yourself.
However you may wish to engage your CPA to review what you put together. STRATPAD™ is a great tool for managers to begin the planning process. Your CPA can likely help by checking your assumptions and making sure that end result is internally consistent.
